Zebra Cake

Zebra Cake


This is the third cake I baked. I always wanted to bake this ever since I saw this lovely cake here. It was as awesome as it looks ! And easy to the core !



What's in it:


  • All purpose flour : 2 cups
  • Baking powder : 3 tsps
  • Cocoa Powder < I used Hersheys> : 2 tbsps
  • Vanilla essence : 1 tsp
  • Eggs : 4 nos.
  • Sugar : 1 cup
  • Milk : 1 cup
  • Vegetable oil : 1 cup


Let's do it !


  1. In a large bowl, cream eggs and sugar.
  2. Add oil, vanilla essence and milk to it and blend well.
  3. To this add pre-sifted AP flour and baking powder and beat well till everything is blended finely.
  4. Pour half of the batter into another bowl and add cocoa powder to it. Mix well till no streaks are there.
  5. Preheat the oven to 356 F /180 C. Grease a 9" round pan.
  6. Pour 3 tbsp of vanilla batter at first using a spoon in the middle of the pan.
  7. Do not disturb the pan. Slowly add 3 tbsps of choco batter in the middle of the vanilla batter.
  8. Alternate vanilla and choco batter, keep pouring in the centre till the batters exhaust.
  9. Be careful not to disturb the pan during the process.
  10. The batter spreads by itself slowly to form the zebra pattern.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes or till a toothpick comes out clean. 
  12. Invert and cool the cake fully.
  13. Cut into pieces and enjoy the awesome zebra cake !
