This is the first ever cake I baked. The best cake for beginners. The cake was very soft and moist inside and it had a very crunchy crust. Easy to cook, yummy to eat !
Butter Cake Recipe :
Recipe adapted from here. ( I halved the original recipe since we are only 3!)
Serves : 4
What's in it :
- All purpose flour - 1 1/4 cups
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
- Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Powdered sugar - 1 1/4 cups
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Eggs - 2 nos.
- Buttermilk - 2 tbsp + 2 tsp
- Milk - 1/3 cup
Let's do it !
- Preheat oven to 320 F.
- Sieve all the dry ingredients together and keep aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together butter, sugar and vanilla extract till it turns creamy.
- Now add eggs one by one into the mixture, beat well.
- Add buttermilk and mix for 10 seconds.
- Add flour little by little, alternating with milk, till both are exhausted, ending with flour.
- Pour the batter into a pan greased with butter and dusted with all purpose flour. Level it with a spoon.
- Bake in an oven for 20-25 minutes. Mine got done in exactly 20 minutes. Prick it with a fork to test the doneness; if the fork comes out clean, you are done!
- Wait for 10 minutes before inverting the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy with a hot cup of coffee/tea !
