Carrot Halwa

My mom used to make this frequently and I was a huge fan of this dessert when I was a kid. Mom's version has condensed milk in it. Now, all grown up and cooking by myself, I make this with plain milk and carrots, omitting the condensed milk/fat part.

Carrot Halwa Recipe :

Serves : 4

What's in it:

  • Finely grated carrots - 3 cups
  • Milk - 3 cups
  • Sugar - 1 1/2 cups
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cardamom crushed - 3 nos.
  • Pistachios - to garnish

Let's do it !

  1. Pour ghee to a non stick kadai. Add the finely grated carrots and stir well till raw smell leaves.
  2. Add the milk into this and keep stirring.
  3. Continue to stir till the milk gets dried up and carrot is fully cooked.
  4. Add crushed cardamom and sugar to this and stir till a fine paste-like texture is obtained.
  5. Garnish with pistachios or any nuts of your choice.
