A very tasty fish curry, cooked in the Kerala style. This is very easy to make and can be had with plain rice, puttu, dosa, etc.
What's in it:
- Salmon cut into pieces : 500 g
- Onion : 1 large finely chopped
- Tomato : 1 medium finely chopped
- Fish masala ( I used Eastern brand) : 2 tsp
- Green chillies : 2 slit ones
- Coriander powder : 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
- Kokum / Kudam puli - 2 medium pieces
- Garlic paste : 1 tsp
- Salt : to taste
- Coriander leaves : to garnish
To grind:
- Coconut shredded : 1/2 cup
- Fennel seeds : 1 tsp
Let's do it !
- Clean and cut the fish into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a kadai/ manchatti (clay pot) . Add the chopped onions to it.
- Saute the onions well till they are golden brown in color.
- Now add garlic paste to this and saute till raw smell leaves.
- Add fish masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder and green chillies. Saute well.
- Add tomato and kokum pieces, stir well so that everything forms to a paste.
- Add 1 cup of water and salmon pieces to it.
- Close the pot and cook till the fish gets cooked.
- Grind the coconut and fennel seeds to a fine paste. Add this to the boiling gravy.
- Let it boil for some more time. Switch off the flame and garnish with some coriander leaves.
- Close and keep aside. Let it stand for some 1-2 hours. It gets more tastier as it sits for more time.
Wow! Salmon curry looks great and delicious Shree :-)
