Found this long and clean tapioca sitting on the shelf in the nearby Indian store, I wanted to give this a try. So here is the outcome. It was yummy with a dash of onion-green chilli chutney !
Serves : 4
What's in it:
- Tapioca/Kappa : 500 gms cubed
- Dried red chillies : 4-5 crushed
- Garlic pods : 5-6 nos. crushed
- Mustard seeds : 1 tsp
- Curry leaves : 1 sprig
- Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
- Salt : to taste
- Coconut oil
Let's do it !
- Peel and wash the tapioca thoroughly. Cut it into cubes.
- Boil water in a large vessel, add the tapioca to this and add salt and turmeric powder to this.
- Let it cook for 15 minutes, take care not to mash the cubes.
- Drain water and keep aside when cooked.
- Crush garlic and red chillies using a mortar and pestle/ pulse in your small jar of mixer grinder.
- In a pan, add coconut oil, when hot, temper mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- Add the garlic and red chillies , saute for 2 minutes.
- Now add in the cooked tapioca and mix everything well. Garnish with some curry leaves.
- Serve hot with shallot-green chilli chutney.
